The Mousetrap, by Agatha Christie, was Playcrafters’ Spring 2005 production. Directed by Nick Attanasio and Produced and Stage Managed by Jane Love, the cast featured two Playcrafters, Ted Fleissgarten and Richard Kleppan, and newcomers Craig Florence, Joe Jankowski, Meredith Johnson, Lauren Lorey, Lorraine Mele and Tom Johnson.
Kudos to the production staff who worked very hard to create Monkswell Manor on the Middle School stage and succeeded brilliantly - Al Rand and his crew and Dorry Tooker, Laurie Fosmire, Geri D’Amico, John Hannon, Dick Westhoff, Bill Love, Brian Hannon, Judy Perfido, Lee Walker, Joe Skelly, Dennis Conroy, Kathy and Matt Gualtieri, Kathy Loizides, Lela Zapette, Bob and Carol Kinsey, Des Burke, Linda Hillman and everyone who came and enjoyed this delightful murder mystery.
From the arrival of the first guest to Monkswell Manor – all snowbound in a horrific storm, the audience was kept guessing "Who Done It?". Job well done.

Each year Playcrafters awards the Margaret W. Smith Memorial Scholarship to graduates of Bellport High School who have demonstrated interest and activity in the Performing Arts. Margaret Smith was one of the founding members of Playcrafters in 1960. Since 1965 Playcrafters have awarded more than 150 such scholarships.
Playcrafters seeks to promote community involvement in the Performing Arts both through our theatrical productions and this scholarship program.
This year we reviewed an exceptionally fine slate of applicants. We commend all of the scholarship winners for their commitment to the Performing Arts, for their academic accomplishments, and their well rounded high school careers.
This year’s recipients of the Margaret W. Smith Memorial Scholarship are:
Caitlin Burke, Sam Geller and Rob Raffa (Leader of the Pack). We wish them the best of luck with their continuing education.
Scholarship Fund Raising
A special thank you to Barbara Mordente (and the dance mothers who baked) for allowing Playcrafters to sell refreshments at her recital on Sunday, June 12th. It netted the Scholarship Fund $400.00!

Nick and I join with Nicole and Randy to express our deepest gratitude to all those who participated in the recent raffle to benefit our daughter Nicole's trust fund. We thank the Board of Directors for spearheading the project as well as all those who purchased raffle tickets. I would also like to acknowledge and thank Paul Allan of Gateway Playhouse and Walter Roe of Old Inlet Inn who so generously donated the prizes, and Ken Searles of Searles Graphics who donated the printing of the tickets. The extraordinary success of this fundraiser is a heartwarming reminder of the kind and caring group of people with whom we have been associated for thirty years. God bless you for your generosity and please continue to keep us in your prayers.
Nicole Gregory Raffle
by Judy Perfido
Playcrafters is very proud to announce that the raffle for the Nicole Gregory Irrevocable Trust Fund totaled $7,320.00 (someone at our performance of The Mousetrap donated $20.) The winner is Kathy Saffori (formerly Kathy Guarltere). This wonderful outpouring of love and caring is indicative of the type of people that are Playcrafters. In one month we managed to raise this substantial amount and we want to thank each and every one of you for your generosity and kindness. Kathy Loizides and Judy Perfido delivered the check to Michele and Nick when they were home for a few days and they were overwhelmed. So are we. Thank you again!

We are very pleased to have Bob Kaplan ("Sylvia") back on board as director for our Fall musical. The Board is still in the process of selecting a show – we are looking at three potential well known musicals. Look for an audition notice for late August or early September.

We regret to report that due to a change in policy at the Bellport Beach Estates Property Owners Association (in East Patchogue), our Beach Picnic can not be scheduled on their beach property this summer. We hope to be able to locate another facility for this event next summer.
