Man of La Mancha tells the story of a “mad” knight Don Quixote as a play within a play, performed by Miguel de Cervantes and his fellow prisoners as he awaits a hearing with the Spanish Inquisition. “La Mancha” is the winner of 5 Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Score and has been produced on Broadway five times. We have pulled out all the stops for this production and have gathered one of most talented groups of theatre people on Long Island.
After a long absence from the Playcrafters’ stage, we are proud to have back with us our gifted Musical Director, Frank Nelson who has directed many successful past Playcrafters musicals. Frank has assembled a fine 9-piece orchestra that promises to make this show one of our best yet. We are also pleased to introduce a most talented director, Phil Gellis, who has performed the role of Sancho many times throughout this region. He has directed this beloved musical with a keen eye on the pathos and humor within the story.
