Our Fall Show 2007

If you missed our fall production of Man of LaMancha (our 100th show!), you missed one of Playcrafters’ best. Director Phil Gellis and Musical Director Frank Nelson put together a wonderful cast of well seasoned singers, actors and actresses as well as a few up and coming stars. Many kudos are in order for Co-producers, Bill Rudock and Judy Perfido who put together a hard working production staff, including the technical lighting and sound crew, as well as costumes, props, stage managers, and set design and construction for making this production come alive every night. The audiences were treated to electrifying performances as evidenced by the standing ovations they received each night. There are so many people who need to be credited for this wonderful show it would not be feasible to name them all, but a hearty and heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who participated in any way to make this production an artistical success. Special thanks do go out to George Pope and Michael Mullaney and Sean for stepping in to help with sound and lights.

Spring Show. . .

Auditions for roles in Plaza Suite, to be presented by the Bellport Playcrafters, will be held on the following dates: Monday, February 25 and Thursday, February 28, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Bellport Middle School Auditorium on Kreamer Street in Bellport. You will be asked to read from the script.  For more information, call (631)-924-8516.

Plaza Suite is a series of three one act plays, all set in Plaza Hotel in New York City. All major roles are written for actors in their mid-forties to early fifties. We will use different male and female leads for each play, unlike the original play, which used the same actor (George C. Scott) and actress (Maureen Stapleton) for all three plays. There are therefore three major roles for women and three for men. Other, minor characters include a bellhop, a waiter, and a young bride and groom to be. Performance dates are Friday, May 2, Saturday,
May 3; Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10.

Annual Meeting. . .

We celebrated another wonderful year of Playcrafter’s on January 27th at the Brown Building in Bellport. We had 43 members attend. Judy Perfido received a special President’s Award from Bill Rudock to honor all of her contributions throughout the years. Frank Nelson presented on behalf of the Board, a list of committees we hope to form. The Board is reaching out to the Playcrafters Membership for volunteers willing to take on special projects. The commitment is less stringent than serving on the Board. The committee list includes: Ad Sales, Grants, Membership, Inventory, Newsletter, Scholarship, Playreading, Social Activities, Voice and E-mail, Website, Costumes, Hair/Make-up, House/Concession, Lighting, Sound, Props, Stage Manager, Poster/Program, Playbill, Sets Stage Crew and Tickets. If you are interested in any of these committees, please contact Frank Nelson at [email protected].

Laurie Fosmire won the basket of wine and goodies and Linda Conroy won the beautiful eagle photo that Genevieve Benjamin and Bill Rudock donated. James Schultz won the 50/50 raffle and promptly donated it back to the scholarship fund.
