Our Upcoming Show

Playcrafters will present “Gilbert and Sullivan A Celebration” on May 3,4,10,11 at the Bellport Middle School.  We will do a concert version of the three shows we have done—Mikado, HMS, and Pirates. We invite anyone who likes to sing to come and join the chorus of these wonderful shows and of course, we will have soloists doing some of the showstoppers.  Act Two will be a staged performance of Trial by Jury— and some say probably the grandest one act operetta ever written.  The cast includes—The Learned Judge (a High Baritone), The Plaintiff (Lyric Soprano), The Defendant (Tenor), Counsel for Plaintiff (High Baritone), Foreman of the Jury (Baritone), First Bridesmaid (Soprano), Usher (Baritone) and a large chorus of jurors, bridesmaids and general public. We hope those who sang in the original productions will come back and do it again and those who haven’t had the pleasure of singing Gilbert and Sullivan will join us for a wonderful time.  Auditions will be at Christ Church, Bellport on February 25 and 26 at 7:30pm.

Our Theater Space

We compiled a wish list during our recent production for equipment and improvements that we need to continue our work on making the stage a fully functional theatre space.  This list led to a several monetary donations, and a matching challenge.  We have been offered an anonymous $10,000 donation, if we can match it.  So far we have raised over $2500 with individual donations and the funds from our 50/50 raffle, and we are immensely grateful to all who have already contributed.  We are actively soliciting further contributions for a capital campaign to improve the stage; donations are tax deductible, and will be matched dollar for dollar, but the matching challenge will expire March 31, 2013.

With this goal in mind, we want to hold a fundraising event.  If you are willing to help plan, please contact, Vicki Fleming, 631-786-3816,

Mark your calendars and support the kids:  Bellport HS will be performing Pippin, February 8 and 9th, 7:30pm.

Our WINter Show

Every Christmas Story Ever Told—and then some! Written by Michael Carlton, Jim FitzGerald and John K. Alvarez

What do you get when you combine inflatable fruitcakes, Christmas trivia, audience participation, the world’s most condensed Frosty the Snowman, men in tutus and a giant gingerbread man? Perhaps the zaniest show ever! Congratulations to the cast and crew for a very fun holiday themed show.  And, to spread the holiday spirit, we made a substantial donation to the Boys and Girls Club’s food pantry.  Thank you for supporting us!
